Kogi State Government has approved the payment of bursary allowances to indigenous students of Kogi State studying in tertiary institutions across the country.
The State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Aridaojo Monday Anyebe, disclosed this when he received the newly reconstituted officials of the National Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS) in his office in Lokoja.
Hon. Aridaojo said approval for the payment of the bursary had already been secured, assuring the students that the disbursement would commence soon.The Commissioner noted that the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has recorded significant achievements in youth development and sports since assuming office.
He disclosed that more than 200 youths had benefited from entrepreneurship programmes and grants facilitated by the ministry.Hon. Aridaojo further assured the NAKOSS leadership that the ministry would collaborate with the association and continue to support initiatives aimed at promoting the welfare and development of Kogi State students and youths.
He congratulated the newly reconstituted NAKOSS officials on their successful election and urged them to work collectively to promote unity, peace and progress within the association.
Speaking earlier, the newly inaugurated President of NAKOSS, Comrade Isiaka Usman Amoto, said the purpose of the visit was to formally introduce the new executive members to the Commissioner and seek his support and cooperation.
Comrade Amoto commended the Commissioner for his leadership and commitment to youth development in the state.
He pledged, on behalf of the NAKOSS executive, their loyalty and commitment to supporting the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.
