The kogi State chapter of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has conducted its primary election for the three (3) Senatorial districts, Nine (9) House of Representatives and over 25 State assembly constituencies in the state ahead of the 2027 general election.
The excercise which was monitored by representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC was free, fair and credible and met the required standards set by the INEC for political parties primary election conduct.
In an interactive session with newsmen after the excercise, the Chairman of APM in Kogi State Hon. Lawal Aliu Abubakar said as one of the leading opposition political party in Nigeria, the party’s conduct of primary strictly follows the directives of the Independent National Electoral Commission and also meet up with its requirment for the conduct of primary election.
Hon. Abubakar showered ecomiums on the Electoral umpire for coming to monitor the excercise which he said was carried out in accordance with rules and regulations guiding the conduct of primaries elections as set out by INEC and the Electoral act 2026″ As a political party, the APM have always carry out its political responsibility in accordance with relevant guidelines and regulations set out by INEC. therefore, this process is not different.
We are strictly following the timetable set by INEC and our National headquarters on primary election which we have just done today. This is to help us settle down properly to other basic activities ahead of the general election and thank God it was done successfully “
