The newly reconstituted officials of the National Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS) have been charged to be good ambassadors of their various institutions and the state at large.
Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, gave the charge in a message delivered during the inauguration of the newly reconstituted NAKOSS officials in Lokoja.
The Governor, who was represented at the occasion by the Kogi State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Aridajo Monday Anyebe, advised the new executives to work collectively towards the growth and development of the association.
Governor Ododo further urged the new executives to run an all-inclusive administration by involving members in the day-to-day activities of the association, while mobilising their unwavering support and cooperation for the present administration.
The Governor also announced that the state government would soon commence the payment of bursaries and scholarships to students of higher institutions as part of its concerted efforts to alleviate their challenges and promote quality education.
Governor Ododo commended all the student delegates to the conference for their maturity and comportment throughout the processes that culminated in the election of the new leadership, led by Comrade Isiaka Usman Amoto.
He urged the students to take their studies seriously, work hard to excel in their respective courses, win academic prizes, and cultivate good character that would uphold their personal reputations and bring honour to Kogi State.
In his acceptance speech, the newly inaugurated President of NAKOSS, Comrade Isiaka Usman Amoto, expressed gratitude to the delegates for finding him worthy to lead the association for the next one year.
He pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him.Comrade Amoto said he sincerely appreciated everyone who stood by him, supported his aspiration, believed in his vision, prayed for him, and contributed in one way or another to his victory.
He said the victory did not belong to him alone but to all Kogi State students.«
“It is a victory for unity, purposeful student leadership, inclusiveness, accountability, and the collective aspiration of Kogi State students to be heard, represented, supported, and empowered.”
