Coach of Nigeria’s Senior Women’s Handball National Team, Michael Taangahar, has released the final list of 16 players who will represent Nigeria at the inaugural IHF Women’s Nations Trophy Africa Zone III scheduled for September 2 to 6, 2026, in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.

The team has been in camp for several weeks at the Indoor Sports Hall, Package B of the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, where Coach Taangahar has been putting the players through their paces ahead of the competition.
As part of their final preparations, the team will travel to Benin Republic to play a number of friendly matches before heading to Ouagadougou for the championship.
Nigeria will open its campaign against Ghana on Thursday, September 3, before facing hosts Burkina Faso on Friday, September 4, in their second group game.
The 16 players selected for the championship are Bisi Oyewusi, Matthew Esther, Ahamefula Chinemerem, Sunday Hope, Ovetuo Rachael, Saaloo Daina, Audu Mercy, Emuore Enifome, Modebe Queen, Yusuf Toyin, Babatunde Taiwo, Ogbusimba Childera, Musa Sadiya, Nuhu Wuraola, Onyekwere Lucy and Muhammad Bilkisu.Coach Taangahar and his players will be hoping to put up a strong performance in Burkina Faso and make a positive start to Nigeria’s campaign at the inaugural IHF Women’s Nations Trophy Africa Zone III.
