The incumbent councillor representing Ochadamu Ward in Ofu Local Government Area, Kogi State, and APC councillorship candidate, Honourable Joy Onogwu, has called on youths and other eligible voters across Kogi East to participate in Saturday’s local government elections.

Honourable Onogwu made the appeal while speaking with the Fresh News Media team during an official engagement in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.
The serving councillor, who is seeking re-election to represent Ochadamu Ward for another term, urged eligible voters, particularly youths in Ochadamu Ward, Ofu Local Government Area, and Kogi State at large, to come out peacefully and participate in the electoral process.

She expressed confidence in the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that the party deserved another opportunity to continue its programmes and policies at both the state and national levels.
Honourable Onogwu also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his administration’s reforms, expressing optimism that the policies would yield positive results in the near future.

According to her, although Nigerians are currently facing economic challenges, the situation is temporary, adding that the reforms are intended to reposition the country for sustainable economic growth and social prosperity.
The APC councillorship candidate also praised Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, and his deputy, Comrade Joel Salifu Oyibo, for what she described as significant achievements in security, infrastructure development, and the prompt payment of workers’ salaries and pensioners’ entitlements.

She noted that these efforts had contributed to addressing some of the challenges confronting residents of the Confluence State.
Honourable Onogwu further appealed to the youths, whom she described as an important segment of the state’s population, to exercise their civic responsibility by participating in the election and making their choices at the ballot box.
She urged eligible voters to maintain peace and order throughout the electoral process, cautioning against violence and any actions that could lead to confrontations with security agencies before, during, and after the polls.
The councillor stressed the importance of a peaceful electoral atmosphere, urging residents to cooperate with security personnel and comply with electoral guidelines to ensure a smooth exercise.
Kogi State is scheduled to hold its local government council elections on Saturday, October 17, 2026, to elect chairmen and councillors who will oversee the affairs of the state’s 21 local government areas for the next two years.
