Kogi State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Aridaojo Monday Anyebe, has declared that sporting activities have come to stay in the state, assuring sports stakeholders of the state government’s continued attention and support for sports development under the leadership of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.
The Commissioner stated this during the grand finale of the 2026 Provost’s Cup held at the Kogi State College of Education (Technical), Mopa.Hon. Aridaojo Monday Anyebe said sports development would continue to receive adequate attention under the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, noting that the government places significant importance on youth development across the state.
He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment and dedication to promoting unity, peace and stability through sporting activities, stressing that sports remain an important platform for youth engagement and development.
The Commissioner assured sports lovers in Kogi State and Nigeria at large of the continued support of the Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo-led administration for the development of sports in the state.
Hon. Anyebe also commended the Provost of the institution, Dr. Ibrahim Muhammad Kebiru, for organising the week-long sporting event. He assured the Provost of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development’s support and urged him to sustain his efforts towards the growth and development of sporting activities in the institution.
Speaking at the event, the Provost of the Kogi State College of Education (Technical), Mopa, Dr. Ibrahim Muhammad Kebiru, said the competition was organised to foster unity among students and promote stronger relationships between the institution, the local government and Kogi State at large.
Dr. Kebiru commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for what he described as quality leadership and support for the progress of the college, assuring that he would continue to provide effective leadership for the institution.
The Provost also expressed appreciation to the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Aridaojo Monday Anyebe, for attending the grand finale and for his efforts towards promoting sports development in the state.
The competition featured various sporting and cultural activities, including football, volleyball, basketball, lawn tennis and cultural displays, among others.
The Commissioner was accompanied to the event by Comrade Michael Achor Joshua, Chairman of the forthcoming Governor Ododo All-Campus Games in Kogi State.
